Miss. Madeleine's Bakery has a lot of sweet places and faces to thank!
First we would like to give a warm thank you to Ms. Willet for being so helpful in the set up of this yummy sweet shop. Ms. Willet is a third grade Language Arts and Social Studies teacher at Christopher Farms Elementary. She got her Bachelors Degree at Virginia Wesleyan College and has been teaching for 31 years. Ms. Willet's favorite part about teaching is watching the children's faces light up when they finally "get it", however she doesn't like the long nights staying up grading papers. Ms. Willet likes to say "Always look for the positive and choose to be happy". What a great message to keep with you especially when you can't get the right ingredient in those cupcakes.
Another thank you goes to Christopher Farms Elementary School, home of the Colts! CFES has been very helpful in setting up a great opportunity for this bakery to thrive. The school is located in the Christopher Farms Neighborhood and is home to some wonderful teachers. CFES has 3 kindergarten teachers, 6 first grade teachers, 5 second grade teachers, 5 third grade teachers, 5 fourth grade teachers, 5 fifth grade teachers, 5 special education teachers, 6 specialists, 1 nurse, and 2 school counselors. There principal is Mrs. Breaux and the assistant principal is Mrs. Market. CFES has an excellent Spanish Immersion Program. It allows students from first through fifth grade to take math and science in Spanish. If the student wishes to continue the program into middle school, they can do so at Landstown Middle School where they can take history in Spanish and take actual Spanish classes.
Another thanks goes to Mrs. Wornoms 2013-2014 first grade class. I was fortunate enough to be able to intern with this class last year. I met some amazing students who really inspired me to want to teach even more. My cooperating teacher was phenomenal and really taught me a lot. I stayed late most days helping her grade papers or clean up the classroom. Not only was she a good teacher but also a kind person. She constantly puts the students first and was always going out of her way to help them.
